Challenge

Solution

Each school within the trust was using different cleaning chemicals and processes to maintain clean and hygienic environments.

This included products that are not eco-friendly, and even harsher products during deep cleaning. 

Spectrum reviewed the range of chemicals in use, replacing 85% of them by supplying a Toucan Eco unit that makes 10 litres of a ready-to-use hypochlorous solution from just water and salt.

This solution kills more than 99.99% of viruses passing tests EN 14476, EN 16777 and EN14476:2013+A2:2019.

The Trust is aiming to become sustainable, placing the environment near the top of the agenda when reviewing the cleaning supplies procurement.

The Toucan Eco system reduces chemical and plastic waste dramatically, as cleaning fluid is made on-site to refill trigger spray bottles, significantly supporting the Trusts desire to become a sustainable eco-school group.

Hand towel, soap and toilet roll dispensers were not fit-for-purpose in any school, creating much waste in relation to paper and staff time.

Introduction of smart dispensing technology creates less waste. Cleaners save significant amount of time as conventional hand towel dispensers need re-filling 3 times more often.

The new toilet roll is equivalent to 4.5 conventional rolls requiring less servicing time for staff.

Updated soap cartridges deliver 3,000 doses and offers effortless maintenance in under 10 seconds.
